The Trials Come To Pass

“Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
These scriptures have been a pillar for me in times of adversity. I was constantly faced with challenges so difficult that I began to question my creator. In a moment of confusion, these words flashed in my mind, reminding me to stay calm and trust God to be in control. And that’s exactly what I did.
I had a job as a teacher in a private school in my neighborhood. The pay wasn’t much, but I felt it was better to work in a place where I could easily walk to, rather than paying for daily transportation around Lagos and risking my health.
Working in Lagos had always been challenging for me. I previously worked as a content creator for a private firm in the city, which required an hour-long commute to work and a three-hour commute back home due to traffic. Transportation costs were constantly fluctuating, especially during rainy days. The stress of commuting daily took a toll on me, leading me to resign after a traumatic experience with armed robbers on my way back from work one night. They took everything I had, including the brand new phone I had just purchased that month.
This experience ultimately led me to become a teacher at a primary school. While the salary was half of what I earned as a content creator, I no longer had to deal with the high transportation costs or risk my mental health with early morning commutes. The school was within walking distance, providing me with relative security and peace of mind.
Compared to my previous job, I found more fulfillment as a teacher. My students were amazing, although they could be a handful at times being kids. Overall, they were lovely and bright, and I found myself becoming happier and looking forward to seeing them every day.
